21st Century Peace Literacy Foundation presents
WOMEN ARE HUMAN
featuring Les femmes sont humaines,
an Integrative Collage painting by Patsy Ferrell
CULTURAL HEALING WITH AN ARTIST'S BRUSH
Women Are Human provides a powerful perspective to see women as human beings with human rights, able to exist and live in their own right -- with 'new eyes' to envision a world free from the normalization of violence against women and girls.
Women Are Human is the brainchild of painter and retired trauma therapist Patsy Ferrell. Her painting, Les femmes sont humaines (first in a series) serves as an avatar for the Women Are Human movement (WAHm).
Ferrell's unique Integrative Collage painting style embeds the narratives of six women in history she brings to life through her brush and bold color palette.
As an artist she strives to be a cultural healer.
Ferrell's work as a licensed clinical social worker has profoundly impacted her art. For two decades she counseled women facing violence and social injustice including survivors of military sexual trauma.
WHAT WAHm OFFERS
Fine art. Engaging presentations. Innovative educational resources. WAHm's With New Eye's Story/Action Card Set and companion WAHm Panel Exhibit provide practical educational tools for schools and community groups. They are available for free use.
In 2019, WAHm will offer a one-woman dramatic monologue that incorporates Ferrell's Integrative Collage approach and her own story as a trauma survivor.
Les femmes sont humaines, is a 48" by 60" acrylic painting by Patsy Ferrell. The narrative embedded in her painting features six women in history who have worked to bring about the emancipation of themselves and other dis-empowered individuals as they struggle to overcome the institutionalized normalization of violence against women.
WAHm On the Road
Beginning in 2019, Patsy will be presenting her dramatic monologue showcasing and bringing to life the stories and truths of women's struggles toward emancipation.
Her presentations will include a collection of Peace Literacy Cards with the stories of each individual woman and actions that can be taken to help end structural violence in women's lives.
